Another Century’s Episode is a real robot series game trilogy. It includes several great series: Gundam, Macross, L-Gaim, Dragonar, Dunbine and more. The robots are not super deformed and the rendering and gameplay is more realistic to the anime. The opening sequences are very cool and I wished Bandai made more 3D CG shows like that. Fortunately they actually are and have been with the Gundam Evolve and MS IGLOO series. The game is powered by FROM Software and produced by Banpresto / Bandai-Namco.

I was watching some old Gundam games on Youtube and watched a Gundam Lost War Chronicles video with a Gouf running around. Then I realized I played the whole game only playing the Federation side. Out of all the Gundam games I’ve played, it’s possibly the best Gundam simulator. This video is quite nice and clear showing the action.

You should probably buy the game if you want to play it. Anyhow just do a search of the game on some big torrent sights and you’ll find it. Easiest way to play the games if you have a slim ps2 is to get the flip top. This place is a real store, I’ve been there, and has various useful import system accessories http://www.estarland.com
The ending of the Gundam 00 has a lot of action but I felt it was just repetitive eye candy. I also think the quality of the animation is a notch below the first season. The ending was very weak, since it just involved killing Ribbons. Ribbons looks so different in a pilot suit. It’s hard to believe that Ribbons wouldn’t have had a backup plan if he were to die in a final battle with Setsuna. There’s probably a couple more Ribbons clones out there so what about them? Anyhow the scenes with O Gundam (total homage to the original) and Exia tries to be nostalgic and cool at the same time, but I’m like what about the OO Gundam? I have to say OO Gundam without the OO Raiser has turned out to be quite pathetic. Having it dismantled in the last episode really is a kicker. Anyhow the O Gundam does some classic beam cannon shots and sword play poses. Exia has it’s one charging pose with an awfully green sword (was it from the OO Gundam?) and walla…. the end. Anyhow I do sort of like them having a classic Amuro Rei / Ramba Ral moment where both cockpits are exposed. Unfortunately there wasn’t really any great dialog accompanying it like the classic. At the end we’re to just assume Celestial Being and Gundam Meisters will be around when another evil appears in the world.
I found this series to start out with some promise. The first season got a little better as it went on, while new and interesting mecha and plots unfolded. The final battles were extremely good. Unfortunately for the second season it was quite lost. Ribbons and the Innovaters weren’t that interesting pulling strings and the characters weren’t that interesting either. They tried to play the relationship theme in the series but it was very weak and boring and most viewers probably would barely connect or care. I also felt the whole second season focused on Setsuna and Saji, they both were incredibly boring characters. If the writers had made them more interesting I would have enjoyed it more. As far as the other Meisters, they also weren’t that much fun. They downright sucked throughout most of the second season killing absolutely nothing. When Tieria finally killed one of the Innovators, it was such a relief to see they were capable of killing anything by that point. Anyhow the writers obviously sucked so bad, they couldn’t kill off any of the main characters or crew. Nothing came even close to what happened at the end of the first season where Lock-On died and two main crew members. Tiera doesn’t count since he merged with Veda. Perhaps there could be a continuation in this universe but I don’t think it would be that interesting. I would rather see more Gundam Seed series.

Ribbons Almark’s mobile suit first appears as a powerful GN Cannon and then the other side of it transforms into his own double GN drive Gundam. The cannon half of the mobile suit seems a little more interesting than the Gundam half. Anyhow the fighting in the last episode was prolific but nothing blazingly interesting or spectacular. I would have to say the coolest part of the episode was finally seeing Allelujah Haptism and Lyle “Lock On” Stratus finally show us that they can lay the smack down when it counts. Allelujah in his Arios Gundam snaps Healing’s Gadessa right in half. Lyle in his beat up suit, uses trans am at the last second to get behind Revive, sticks his gun point blank into him and lets loose.
Ribbon’s Gundam has shooting/ramming bits (funnels) which quickly take down Arios Gundam and then Ribbons and Setsuna go trans am happy. So basically the screen turns all red with flashy fighting… which I suppose is cool for some people, but for me its kind of lame. Anyhow Ribbons wants the original O Gundam GN drive and manages to chop it off and go off somewhere with it. He runs into the abandoned O Gundam, as his Gundam starts to break down, and gets smug with the perfect timing. Meanwhile Setsuna revives Exia for the final battle.
Gundam 00 final episode screenshots. I’ll write about the series and last show later.
